Peninsula Compost
Peninsula Compost is planning a facility in Burlington Township, NJ. Peninsula Compost is a Delaware-based company that processes food and yard waste into compost. Peninsula Compost is expecting to accept about 100,000 tons of food waste a year and 60,000 tons of carbon material. In an 8 week process their facility can mix the materials and produce a high quality compost. To prevent odor problems, the company will cover the waste on their facility with breathable water proof materials which allow air to enter, while preventing water from seeping in and preventing odor from escaping.
Peninsula Compost expects to precede construction of a New Jersey facility with a facility of the same size and design in Wilmington, Delaware. This will give Peninsula ample time to perfect the design before creating its New Jersey facility.
